Artwork Requirements For DTG Digital Printing
Last Updated: Monday 11th March 2024 By Admin
Your artwork is very important. If the design is low quality, chances are, the finished print will be also. If you need help with anything in this section. Send us an email or give us a call, we will be glad to guide you.
The following information is technical in nature, if you are not sure what this means, please send us the best file you have and we will look at it and advise what you will need to. We are only too happy to help you.
The short story is:
-
A file that is 300 DPI,
-
A file that is at print size
-
A file that ends in .png
-
A file that has a transparent background
-
.jpgs will work for white garments only (or any full coverage graphics, eg band album cover art) - see below for more details
Further tips:
-
Re: text - for text to be readable we recommend font to be no smaller than 7mmH
-
Re: front chest prints: usual size is 75mm-95mmW in total
If you have Vector graphics
What are Vector Graphics?
Vector graphics are composed in programs like Adobe Illustrator, Corel DRAW, Macromedia Freehand or Inkscape.
-
First, make sure to back-up your original file before making any changes.
-
Resize your image to the size you want on your t-shirt. It is important to make your image 100% to print size.
Max Image Size (Front or Back) is 40cm(W) X 60cm(H) however this may not be possible on some t-shirts.
-
It is important to convert fonts to curves or create outlines for all text.
-
Check that all pixel based fills are set to a minimum of 300dpi.
-
Remove any background layers that are not be to printed.
-
Save your image (as a copy) in a .AI or .EPS for other programs, ready to email to us.
If you have Pixel graphics
What are Pixel Graphics?
Pixel graphics are composed in programs like like Adobe Photoshop®, CorelPHOTOPAINT or Microsoft Paint.
-
For quality results we recommend using Adobe Photoshop® file .PSD or files that support a transparent background like .PNG or .GIF.
-
Be sure to back-up your original file and make the following changes to a copy of that original file.
-
Resize your image to the size you want on your t-shirt. Your image must be 100% to print size.
Max Image Size (Front or Back) is 40cm(W) X 50cm(H) however this may not be possible on some t-shirts.
-
We will say it again, your image size should be 100%. If you are not sure on size, your artwork should always be larger rather than smaller. Minimising the design is possible without losing image quality, however, when you make enlargements, your designs will appear "pixilated".
-
Your file should be set at 300dpi resolution.
-
Remove any background layers that are NOT to be printed.
-
Save your image (as a copy) in a .PSD, .PNG, .GIF or .EPS for other programs, ready to email to us.
-
Files such as .JPG (.JPEG), .TIFF or .BMP that don't support transparent backgrounds can be used, if the background colour is pure white or pure black as we may be able to remove the background, depending on how detailed, keeping in mind this may leave a tiny jagged edge behind, that may or may not be seen once printed.
-
.JPGs will also work for full cover designs such as illustrations or drawings where the whole graphic is being printed, eg Band Album art; except if you intentionally match the background to the colour of tee - this will not work and will need to be removed - transparent background were relevant is always best.
If you are unable to provide the artwork required by TSPA please contact our office, our staff should be able to help you. TSPA operates its own artwork and design service that may be used if necessary. Artwork and/or artwork adjustments are charged at a rate of $77.00+GST per hour or part thereof.
