A vector image is one of two commonly used 2D graphic types. The other type is Bitmaps (also known as raster or pixel based graphic types. They have file names that end in: .png, .jpg, .psd etc.
Vector graphics formats can sometimes be combined with raster images. These are called meta files. But in general you can't just add a raster file into a vector document and supply it to us as a vector file. It's not a true vector - it's still a pixel based image.
Vector graphics are completely different. They are made up of objects and other geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves and shapes.
Each of these objects is defined by mathematical calculations and can be assigned properties like colours, fills and outlines.
Specific computer software is use to create vector graphics. The most common vector programs include (Adobe Illustrator), (CorelDRAW), (Macromedia Freehand) or (Inkscape).
T-Shirt Printing is a good example where working with vector images is used as industry best practice.
This is because Vector images are resolution independent, meaning they can be scaled indefinitely without loosing quality.
Vector graphics also tend to have much smaller file sizes than raster-based bitmaps.
Our design team offers a Logo Restoration Service that can convert your Logo from a low resolution, low quality file type and redraw your Logo or Graphic into a clean crisp Vector Image Logo, ready for use for all kinds of purposes, including T-shirt Printing.
